David Fox was raised in Zimbabwe — or Rhodesia as it was then — where he cultivated a healthy appetite for biltong, Mazoe orange juice and news. After spending more than two decades as a foreign correspondent with Reuters, he left under something of a nuclear cloud and ended up in Bali, where he promptly outdid all his previous exploits by being arrested on drug charges. He currently resides in Islamabad, Pakistan, where he has somewhat miraculously resurrected his journalism career and is bureau chief for Agence France Press.
